PL2303GD
USB-CDC to Serial Bridge Controller
OVERVIEW
The PL2303GD is a full-featured single-chip USB-CDC to UART bridge controller for connecting a full-duplex UART asynchronous serial interface device to any Universal Serial Bus (USB) capable host. The PL2303GD implements the standard USB-CDC Device which is natively supported in most of operating systems; so the PL2303GDdoes not need any custom driver installation. The operating system or USB host communicates with the PL2303GD through USB-CDC application software developed based on Windows / Mac / Linux DLL libraries provided by Prolific.
USB-CDC device is natively supported in most of operating systems such as Mac OS X 10.7, Linux3.8, Android3.2and their later version. Prolific provides SDK for customers to develop their application software. Refer to instruction of PL2303GDSDK on how to control PL2303GD GPIO using the API in SDK.

- USB-CDC driver and SDK:
- Built-in USB-CDC driver on Win10, Mac OS X 10.7, Linux3.8, Android3.2 or above
- Provides USB-CDC to UARTSDK for Mac OS X, Linux, and Android and SDK of virtual-com-port for Windows.
- Supports Battery Charger (BC1.2) detection to enable fast charging of batteries.
- Supports Windows USB Selective Suspend (Remote Wakeup enabled).
- Supports Windows Modern Standby.
- Supports Windows DCHU (Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps, Universal).
- 🔗🌐 Custom Product Name & Specified COM Port Technology🌐 🔗
- Patented OEM deployment feature – Taiwan Patent I934369: factory-configure a Specified COM Port number and a clear, product-specific Product String in OTPROM / EEPROM so the product name and COM port can be recognized together.
- Specified COM Port range: supports OEM-specified COM Port numbers from 1 to 65,535.
- Multilingual Product String: supports descriptive product names in multiple languages through the OTP programming tool, helping users distinguish which COM port belongs to which product.
- Clear product-to-port identification: program the intended Product String and Specified COM Port Number during manufacturing so Device Manager can present an easy-to-recognize product name together with its COM number, reducing routine end-user reassignment and manual setup.
- Driver / WHQL advantage: these OTPROM / EEPROM identity settings are designed to work with the Prolific Windows VCP driver without an additional WHQL submission for each configured OEM identity.
